Outreach for June

The Outreach Committee will be holding a clothing drive on Father’s Day, June 20th between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. We will be collecting both children’s and adults’ gently used and new warm weather clothing in the church parking lot.

We are also in need of two volunteers to act as servers on the SHIP food truck on Wednesday, June 16th. 

You would need to meet the food truck in the Sacred Heart parking lot in Manville at 5:25 and stay until approximately 6:30 (we will also need two volunteers on July 21st and August 18th). Please email Marlene if you can help – mficzko@optonline.net.

In-Person Coffee Hour is Back!

Sunday, May 23 is our is our first “Coffee Hour” since March of 2020.  Even if you don’t attend the Sunday service, we are encouraging anyone who feels comfortable enough, to come at 11:15 and enjoy a time of distanced camaraderie on the patio.

Cookies, iced tea and lemonade will be served. Folding chairs will be set up, but please feel free to bring your own outside chairs.  Since we will not be serving coffee, bring your own if you want.  

If you are new to the church, this would be a perfect time to meet some of our parishioners.  

Diocese of NJ Guidelines:  Six feet social distancing, and masks unless vaccinated. Vaccinated people do not have to wear a mask outdoors. Everyone is on their honor to comply with the diocesan guidelines according to their vaccination status. We will not be asking if anyone is vaccinated.

Please come and enjoy something we haven’t experienced for more than a year:  Good eats and great conversation.

Sunday School & Youth Group Get Together

We are organizing an informal gathering at Burnt Mills Park in Bedminster as a way for our Sunday School and Youth Group Families to safely get together outdoors as a very unusual Church School Year nears a close. Burnt Mills Park is only 3 miles down the road from Saint Martin’s (heading West on Washington Valley Road).

  • Who: Saint Martin’s Families (families with kids or with dog kids or kids at heart)
  • What: Informal Outdoor Gathering (water and pre-wrapped snacks provided)
  • When:  Sunday, May 16th at 4pm
  • Where: Burnt Mills Park
  • Burnt Mills Park has a small playground, ball fields, access to a long bike/walking path and a dog park so dogs welcome!
  • Why:  Fellowship!  We wanted to find a safe and casual way for our church families to get together outdoors. Meeting outdoors at a park will give grown-ups a chance to catch up while kids have a chance to play outdoors together. Masks requested when social distance not being maintained. Burnt Mills Park is not currently reserving facilities, so we will just show up and have some fun!  

Outreach for May

May is our month to work on Saturdays for the Food Bank. We will need at least three people each Saturday to distribute food outside the Pentecostal Church on Davenport Street in Somerville.  We need one person who can drive a van from Easy Street in Bound Brook to Somerville with the food.

So far we have only a few people who have volunteered so please consider spending a Saturday morning helping those in need. Thank you.

Parish Work Day

Place this Sunday, May 2nd on your calendar as our first Parish Work Day since the pandemic.

We will need wheelbarrows to haul mulch, pitchforks, shovels, and a general day to spruce up the church. Bring your trowels and work gloves and enjoy seeing your fellow parishioners out in the fresh air.
